History of Texas with Biographical Mention of Many Texas Families of Central Texas
Printed by The Lewis Publishing Co. Chicago, Ill 1896

The following is primarily about the Stigler family but has ties to the Hatchett family.

T. L. Stigler went to Tennessee in 1870 and married in 1872. “In 1876, accompanied by his family, he came to Texas and took up his abode in Erath county....In 1882 he bought eighty acres of his present farm, the place upon which he has since maintained his home....
This is all valley land and is located between the mountains of Duffau and Paluxy. “

“Mr. Stigler married Miss Kiddie A. Hatchett, a native of Tennessee, her birth having occurred in the year 1855. She is the daughter of James M. and Sarah (Wasley) Hatchett, both natives of Tennesee, and both died and buried there.” (Note: the maiden name of Sarah should be Wagster. Nancy Howard)

“Mr. Hatchett was by trade a tanner and ran a tanery in early life, but later settled down to the quiet pursuits of the farm. Both he and his wife were members of the Missionary Baptist Church. Their family comprised nine children, of whom five came to Texas, two of the five now being residents of Oklahoma: John, of Oklahoma; Joel, middle Tennessee, Frederick, deceased; Hulda, wife of R. L. Stanly, Tennessee; Mary, wife of Thomas Clippo, is deseased; Lovey J., wife of F. Carvery; Sarah, wife of John Moore, Oklahoma; Kiddie, wife of Mr. Stigler; and James C., Grayson county Texas. Mr. and Mrs. Stigler have had ten children to bless their home, eight of whom are yet living, viz.: Molly A., wife of John Haley; James Earl, a school-teacher by profession; and the others, all at home, are John C., Myrtle M., Nora B., Malla Floyd, Lonnie and Harvey.

Both our subject and his wife are stanch members of the Christian Church.”

Verna Howard told me of the following siblings of Lovey Jane Hatchett were: Clite, Crid, Sarah, Kiddie and Mary. According to Verna, Clite lived in Oklahoma, Crid lived in Chalk Mountain, Sarah married a Moore. Not sure how accurate this is but could be useful to start this family line.

This aunt also told a story of William Carver being in Tennessee and meeting Lovie Jane
Hatchett. They fell in love according to the story and William came with Lovie Jane and her siblings to Erath County Texas where he married her. I need to find the marriage record in Erath County Courthouse, if possible or see if it has been transcribed in a book in our library. William Franklin CARVER had sister named Lucy perhaps other siblings.
Verna Howard couldn’t recall other family of William F. Carver.
